6th Annual Shantytown and BBQ

This year The Door Youth Centre in Centre Wellington is hosting our 6th Annual Shantytown and BBQ. Shantytown is the event we hold every year to raise funds for the work The Door does for youth in our area and raise awareness of the reality of poverty and homelessness across the nation and in our own community. Shantytown is an event where the participants spend a night sleeping in a shanty they have built themselves out of cardboard, play games and activities targeted at opening their eyes and hearts surrounding the issue of poverty and challenge themselves during team games and discussions.

To kick off the event we invite all members of Centre-Wellington and surrounding areas to visit Shantytown for a fund-raising BBQ, tour the shanties that have been built and visit with The Door and other local organizations in our community working at making a difference.

So please join us on September 11 at 6pm for our BBQ to support The Door Youth Centre and the Shantytown participants. If you are interested in becoming a participant of the entire Shantytown event please feel free to phone us at 519-787-0925 or email Kelly Culp at kculp@live.ca
